The brake master cylinder, through the action on the brake pedal, commands the calipers and/or wheel cylinders in your vehicle's braking system.
To comply with French legislation since July 1976, the separation of the braking system into two independent circuits has led to the widespread use of tandem master cylinders. The tandem master cylinder consists of two independent pumping elements: the primary circuit is directly controlled by the force from pressing the brake pedal or the power brake. The secondary circuit, on the other hand, is controlled by the pressure from the primary circuit and a preloaded spring.
Why should you consider replacing the brake master cylinder?
In the event of one circuit failing, the other circuit ensures braking for two wheels. A failure in one circuit results in an increased pedal travel and, consequently, an extended stopping distance.
